Pakistan Moves to Update Standard Time Law ⏰

THE POINT
Pakistan has taken a major step toward updating its standard time law, with the Standard Time (Interpretation and References) Amendment Bill 2025 sent to the President for assent.
The bill has already been approved by both the National Assembly and Senate. If approved, the legal difference between Pakistan Standard Time and GMT would be reduced from 5 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours.
The amendment would update a time-related law that has been in force since 1943, marking a significant change to Pakistan’s legal time framework after decades.
