📚Punjab’s Class 9 Results Raise Alarming Questions About Government Schools

THE POINT
Punjab’s Class 9 results have highlighted serious concerns over academic performance in government schools.
In Lahore, just 39% of government school students passed, while 61% failed. The gender gap was also significant, with 72% of boys failing compared with 52% of girls.
Several major boards across Punjab also recorded pass rates below 53%, including Bahawalpur (38.46%), Sargodha (42.61%), Gujranwala (46.51%), Dera Ghazi Khan (48.18%), Faisalabad (51.21%) and Multan (52.11%).
The results have renewed debate over teaching quality, learning standards and the overall performance of the public education system.
